Thigh Lift

Patients who seek thigh lift surgery often complain of loose skin in their upper thighs, thighs that rub together when standing or walking, thighs with a large circumference, all symptoms that often occur with massive weight loss–combined with aging. In order to streamline the thighs, Dr. Goldberg can remove excess skin and fatty tissue.

There are three different surgical approaches to the thigh: inner, medial, and bilateral thigh lifts. Each procedure is designed to assist patients in improving the contour of the thigh as they work to meet their goals for a healthier, younger-looking body.

Who Is A Candidate For Thigh Lift Surgery?

If you who suffer from excess skin in the thigh following extreme weight loss or from the effects of aging, you may be a good candidate for thigh lift surgery. If you are in good overall health, a non-smoker and already motivated toward improved health and fitness with stable weight, please talk to us about having thigh lift surgery.

How Is The Thigh Lift Procedure Performed?

The thighs are contoured with the assistance of two main surgical techniques: excision and liposuction. In all three of the approaches — inner, medial, and bilateral thigh lifts — excess skin is excised, lifted and redraped. Liposuction is used to remove fatty tissue, typically before the skin is redraped; liposuction-only procedures are conducted if the skin quality is adequate. The point of entry to the underlying tissue changes according to the approach selected. For the inner thigh lift, the incision is made in the groin area. For excess fat and skin of the thigh, for the upper part of the inner thigh, the plastic surgeon will perform a medial thigh lift. In this case, an incision is made from the groin area around the inner thigh to the buttock. For the bilateral thigh lift, an incision is made at the top of the leg extending along the bikini line. Excess skin and fat at the outside, and front of the thigh, are then removed.

Surgery time usually lasts between 2-3 hours. The procedure is usually conducted in an outpatient setting, under either a general or local anesthetic (dependent on Dr. Goldberg’s recommendation). While costs vary depending on each patient’s needs, a thigh lift typically costs $14,000. This cost estimate includes the fees typically associated with a surgical procedure.

Your Recovery From Thigh Lift Surgery

Rest and conservative movement are important during recovery from this surgery. The drains that are inserted during surgery to remove fluid that accumulates during recovery will be removed after approximately one week. Tape and compression garments should be worn for 3-4 weeks per your plastic surgeon’s recommendation. Light exercise can often be resumed after two weeks, and full recovery is typically achieved after about 4-6 weeks.

We treat patients from Scarsdale, Yonkers and many other communities. For more information about thigh lift surgery, call our office for a consultation at 914-722-1600.
