What Can I Expect From The Procedure?
A traditional brow lift takes 1-2 hours to perform. Dr. Goldberg will first make an incision across the top of the head, behind the hairline. The forehead skin is then lifted and the underlying muscles and tissues are removed or altered to create a smooth appearance. The brows are elevated and secured with sutures under the skin or with titanium screws behind the hairline. Smaller incisions are closed with stitches or clips.
An endoscopic brow lift also takes 1-2 hours to perform and is done with local anesthesia in conjunction with intravenous sedation. Dr. Goldberg will make four to five small incisions behind the hairline. Using the endoscope, the surgeon will see the skin’s underlying structures during the procedure. The forehead skin is then lifted and the underlying muscles are removed or altered to create a smooth appearance. The brows are elevated and secured with sutures under the skin or titanium screws behind the hairline. Dr. Goldberg will then use stitches or clips to close smaller incisions.
What Will My Life Be Like After A Brow Lift?
Following this procedure, you should allow about one week to return to normal activities. You should be able to shower and shampoo within three days. Some numbness, nausea, discomfort and swelling are possible. Stitches may be removed after one week and fixation screws may be removed in 2-3 weeks. After three weeks, most signs of the surgery will be gone. You should limit rigorous activity and sun exposure following the procedure. The results may last five to ten years.
Like with any surgical procedure, some complications are possible and may include nerve damage, scarring, hair loss along scar edges, loss of sensation, infection and bleeding.
