DAXXIFY®

If you’re bothered by noticeable or deepening frown lines, you’re not alone. Frown lines — or the vertical glabellar wrinkles between the eyebrows — can not only make you look older, but they may also convey feelings of tiredness, stress, or displeasure, even when you’re feeling happy and rested. There are many treatments to choose from when it comes to smoothing these “eleven” wrinkles, but DAXXIFY® presents Westchester patients with a new, dynamic injectable designed to improve frown lines with longer-lasting results when compared to other treatment options. DAXXIFY® is the only FDA-approved neurotoxin on the market whose chemical composition uniquely includes a novel peptide as a stabilizer, rather than human or animal byproducts. This allows the peptide to stay bound to the neurotoxin molecule, often resulting in more enduring results when compared to similar frown line treatments.

DAXXIFY® vs. BOTOX® Cosmetic

As the most well-known wrinkle-reducing treatment on the market, BOTOX® Cosmetic is often compared to DAXXIFY® and many patients ask about the difference between the two injectables. Compared to BOTOX® Cosmetic, DAXXIFY® is the first and only FDA-approved frown line treatment powered by a peptide. Neurotoxins like BOTOX® Cosmetic and Jeuveau™ generally use human or animal byproducts to stabilize the protein responsible for wrinkle relaxation — botulinum toxin A. DAXXIFY® has a very unique formulation consisting of a peptide stabilizer, making it the only frown line treatment that does not contain human or animal byproducts. The unique composition of DAXXIFY® also allows the injectable to last relatively longer than BOTOX® Cosmetic. Whereas BOTOX® Cosmetic usually lasts 3 to 4 months, the effects of DAXXIFY® can often be seen for at least 6 to 9 months. DAXXIFY® results can also be noticeable faster than treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic, which typically takes a few days to take effect. 

How is Treatment with DAXXIFY® Performed?

DAXXIFY® is performed in-office at our practice. There is no anesthesia necessary, although a local numbing agent can be applied to improve the comfort of your injections. After a consultation in which the optimal injection sites and amount of solution are determined, DAXXIFY® will be meticulously delivered to the frown line region using an ultra-fine needle. Most patients do not report pain or discomfort during injections. The entire process usually takes 15 to 30 minutes and there is no recovery time necessary after your appointment. Swelling or redness may occur, but these reactions should be minor and resolve naturally.

What Can I Expect From the Results of DAXXIFY®?

Some patients notice the results of DAXXIFY® as soon as the day after their treatment. In general, DAXXIFY® can smooth frown lines with noticeable results that last an average of 6 to 9 months. This timeframe is about 30 to 50 percent longer than treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic. Since DAXXIFY® usually lasts longer than other wrinkle-reducing injectables, patients often do not need as many treatments throughout the year as BOTOX® Cosmetic and other neurotoxins. A personalized treatment plan will be tailored according to your goals and the extent of your concerns.

How Much Does DAXXIFY® Cost?

The cost of DAXXIFY® at our practice is $14 per unit. Your total cost estimate will be influenced by your needs and the number of units necessary to achieve your goals. While insurance does not cover elective treatments, Dr. Goldberg accepts plastic surgery financing via CareCredit®, ALPHAEON® Credit, and PatientFi® for qualified patients.
