Cellulite is an almost universal concern for women, regardless of their age, background, or lifestyle. It’s estimated that between 80 and 90 percent of women are affected by the characteristic skin dimpling and “craters” that make up cellulite, often appearing most prominently on the buttocks. In the past, there was no established way to treat cellulite and women simply had to contend with these medically harmless, yet aesthetically unfavorable skin depressions.
Now, plastic surgeon Neal Goldberg, MD is thrilled to offer patients treatment with QWO® — the first and only FDA-approved method of reducing moderate to severe cellulite on the buttocks. With a series of non-surgical injections, QWO® delivers special enzymes to the buttocks that can provide a visible improvement in cellulite over the following weeks. Best of all, results from QWO® are designed to stay forever and most patients experience a long-term, dramatic reduction in bumps and lumps on the surface of their skin.
The ingredients in QWO® are thought to target the structural cause of cellulite: fibrous bands that pull down on the skin’s surface, causing a dimpled or lumpy appearance. As you age, the skin becomes thinner and fat cells enlarge, pushing against the skin. Fibrous bands connecting the skin and muscle also thicken and create tension on the skin subdermally. QWO® releases special enzymes called “collagenases” once injected, which are believed to release the pressure on these connective bands, thereby smoothing the texture of the skin and stimulating collagen production. To maximize the outcome of treatment, QWO® is typically performed in a series of three injections spaced weeks apart. Patients usually see their results after about 10 weeks.
Though highly effective in addressing cellulite, QWO® may not be the best solution for all women who are bothered by cellulite. Our aesthetic specialist will help determine whether you are a good candidate for QWO® injections based on a discussion of your goals and a review of your medical history.
Although insurance doesn’t cover elective treatments, plastic surgery financing is available via CareCredit® and ALPHAEON™ Credit for qualified patients. Once they’re approved, many individuals find that the low- and no-interest payment plans offered by these healthcare lending companies can make treatment costs more manageable. If you have any questions about the price of QWO®, don’t hesitate to contact our practice so a member of our team can assist you.
