Aerolase® Skin Resurfacing and Tightening

/ /Aerolase® Skin Resurfacing and Tightening

Sun damage and decreased collagen production can affect the skin on multiple levels, from the pigmentation to its tone, texture, and elasticity. Common concerns that can prevent the bright, smooth skin tone we desire include dark spots, acne scars, fine lines, rosacea, redness, laxity, and large pores, among many other cosmetic conditions. NeoSkin by Aerolase® is a dynamic treatment that uses the sophisticated LightPod Neo® laser to rejuvenate the surface as well as the underlying layers of the skin, erasing imperfections while catalyzing the formation of new collagen. Westchester plastic surgeon Neal Goldberg, MD, FACS and our aesthetic professionals can use the Aerolase® system to help you renew the health of your skin in conjunction with the appearance of your complexion.

What are the Benefits of Aerolase®?

Laser skin resurfacing with Aerolase® can treat numerous concerns that often prevent smooth skin and a healthy glow. In addition to all-encompassing rejuvenation and skin tightening, the Neo® laser can rebuild collagen to allow fuller, healthier-looking skin to develop in the months following treatment. Aerolase® is often used to reduce or remove:

  • Hair
  • Unfavorable scarring and acne scars
  • Brown spots and sun damage
  • Fine lines and mild wrinkles
  • Bumps and uneven texture
  • Skin laxity

The Neo® laser also employs micropulse technology to treat concerns in short bursts, often delivering the laser energy to the dermis faster than other resurfacing lasers. The result of this 650-microsecond laser energy can be a virtually painless treatment to achieve a clearer and more youthful complexion.

Is Aerolase® Right For Me?

Thanks to the unique 650-microsecond laser energy utilized by Aerolase® lasers, NeoSkin® treatment is considered safe for all skin types with little to no risk of hyper- or hypopigmentation. This laser resurfacing procedure can be performed on darker skin types and/or tanned skin. Our medical skin care professionals can evaluate your complexion to help you decide whether Aerolase®, or perhaps another skin tightening treatment, can best treat your concerns.

How is Laser Skin Resurfacing with Aerolase® Performed?

Laser skin resurfacing using the Neo® laser is performed in our medical spa treatment rooms. Cooling gels and topical anesthetics are usually unnecessary with NeoSkin®, with the majority of patients experiencing little to no discomfort during the procedure. There is typically no pain, but a mild sensation of heat or pinching may be felt as the handpiece is guided along the targeted area. The handpiece of the Neo® laser does not make contact with the skin during treatment. As the Neo® laser delivers short bursts of laser energy to the dermis, signs of age such as fine lines, laxity, and large pores are addressed. Following this revitalization of the collagen structure, the laser will then target the melanin and hemoglobin to clear brown spots, redness, and other pigmentation issues if present. An average treatment session typically takes 20 to 60 minutes depending on your needs, with the best results seen when patients undergo six sessions that are spaced out over a period of six months. There is no downtime after laser skin resurfacing, although some redness may be experienced after treatment.

When Will I See the Results of Aerolase® Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Some patients see improvement right after their NeoSkin® treatment session, although most individuals achieve noticeable results within a few weeks. The outcome should steadily improve over the next six months as the collagen structure is remodeled, especially if multiple treatments are pursued. The results of NeoSkin® are fairly long-lasting, but the skin will continue to be affected by age and sun exposure. We recommend maintaining your rejuvenation with periodic touch-up treatments and high-quality skin products.
